The CO2 meter

We have a view of the Linterfaces garden from the entrance courtyard. There is vegetation on the right wall, flowers, a tree, a path leading to the house at the far end, water collectors on the left and the front of one of the electric cars at the bottom right.

What is a CO2 meter?

I set up a methodology with a technician from Enercoop (producer of 100% green and renewable electricity) which allows us to count the kilos of CO2 saved during your stay at Linterfaces guesthouse.

The house is in fact equipped with numerous energy-saving features:

  • Green and solidarity electricity
  • Low-consumption LED
  • Presence detectors
  • Water saver
  • Etc.

At the end of your stay, I add up the number of nights, the kilometres travelled, and I record the CO2 savings you have made on our meter. When you leave, I give you a card with your photo* and a calculation of your carbon footprint.

In addition to being practical, this approach helps to raise awareness among my guests of the importance of eco-friendly actions to limit the consumption of raw materials and energy.

*We make this card with your photo if you wish to do it, there is no obligation. We do not use your photos afterwards.

The CO2 meter, how much do we save?

Please note that a night with us saves 1 kilo of CO2. Added to this is an additional 1 kilo of CO2 saved for every 10 kilometres travelled in our electric Zoés.

For example, if you stay for a 2-night weekend and drive 80km in a Zoé, you will have saved 10kg of CO2 compared to a traditional stay.

Developing a shared CO2 meter: The AvisorUS® project

The CO2 meter works on my scale. My goal is to develop a shared CO2 meter. With such a system, we pool and synchronize everyone's actions and thus create a dynamic of change in the selection criteria for choosing a destination, accommodation or activity.

The goal of this system is twofold. On the one hand, it is to highlight the company's efforts to limit the release of greenhouse gas emission to the consumer and on the other hand, to value the latter when they leave by telling them how much they contribute to running the meter.

For example, I have winemaker friends who use vat rooms powered by photovoltaic energy, pallet trucks or other electric vehicles. There are also many other examples where Champagne professionals or accommodation providers act to reduce the carbon impact. Equipped with this meter, they could communicate to their customers how much CO2 they saved.

We see the small figurine of the Bulléo Fairy on a rectangular wooden base, made from the twisted wire of the muselet and the silver collar of the champagne cork. She is holding a magic wand in the shape of a golden star with a ladybug in the center. She has silver wings and a golden pointy hat.

To achieve this, I created the Champadvisor brand (converter, differential of eco-gestures) with a list of recommendations, accompanied by a methodology to put into practice. The goal? Count the kilos of CO2 saved and act from the act of purchase against global warming.

I also created a mascot, "the Bulléo Fairy", who, with her recommendations and her magic wand, transforms our eco-gestures into kilos of CO2 saved.
